Even in the Middle Ages, milk thistle was a recognized medicinal plant. It is no coincidence that the Hungarian Pharmaceutical Society’s Herbal Section chose it as the Herb of the Year in 2013. Its active ingredient, silymarin, is produced by extracting the seeds of the marigold.
